Hi I'm Alisha, I am a chef turned commercial photographer specialising in food, beverage, product and branding photography. Servicing Brisbane and Gold Coast areas, my photographic work aims to celebrate the people behind the produce as well as the products themselves. I want to tell their stories through images to show the community, collaborations and camaraderie from farm to table and everything in between.
This series was created in response to our commercial photography unit assessment to create an editorial food story for a food magazine. I came up with the concept by thinking about the nostalgia of family Mexican food nights I had growing up, as well as thinking about the current climate at the time of people slowly coming back together to once again enjoy meals with loved ones. I drew on my food knowledge from being a chef and researched colour palettes and props that would aid in the storytelling element of this series. I cooked, styled and photographed this series.
This project was shot for my client Reds Steakhouse and Bar. The brief was to capture their new menu items along with environmental portraits of their staff. With restaurant photography I like to add storytelling elements to help entice their ideal customer in. In addition to making the food and beverages look appetising.
