I am Shamus and a recent graduate of Billy Blue, currently based in Wollongong, NSW. My ethos is to create design solutions which will be experienced for life. Through carefully curated selections, my designs are rich in tone and crisp detail, striking a delicate balance between functionality and aesthetics.
I was asked to produce a design scheme for Art Series Hotels in Fremantle in collaboration with Western Australian artist, Penny Coss.
The complex commercial site required space planning and design solutions for three types of hotel suites on three floors of the space as well as hospitality and reception areas on the ground floor. The design was considered and in keeping with Art Series Hotels signature aesthetic and celebrated Penny Coss by physically and conceptually representing their art in each area of the hotel.
Significant research into the site, its location, the client and artist were undertaken to create a well rounded design solution for the project.
This project was a conversion from a hair salon into a wine bar, where I was tasked with reworking the floor plan of the existing space and re-designing the space for the new commercial use including new custom joinery for the point of sale.
Throughout the design process I took into consideration existing services as well as Australian Standards and regulations in regards to commercial premises.
